Hail and Tarps

After the huge amount of damage done to my car a couple (is it a few now?) years back, we try to make sure that my car is in the garage if we are expecting hail.

For the kid's Mustang, tonight we covered it with tarps. Does that do any good? Is there anything better to do?

RE: Hail and Tarps

That should help, only time will tell how well though. I hope you got lucky like I did.

We had mulch delivered this am and my son is coming over monday to do spring cleanup etc. I was torn between taking my Mark out of the 3rd stall in my garage where I park the Mark and where I was having the mulch dropped in front of.

I decided at the last minute this morning to leave the Mark in the garage until my son removes all the mulch next week. Boy am I glad. We had the worst hail storm I can ever remember hearing crashing against my house. It would have destroyed the Mark for sure.

If you've got some old matress comforters, you could stick them on the car (under the tarp) for extra padding.

OK, thanks for the info.

Paul, glad your Mark stayed covered -- our hoods seem especially prone to damage, that's why it's my car that goes in the garage.

I don't think we got bad hail, but I will keep the scratching in mind.

RE: Hail and Tarps

I would not use a tarp. Go and get a very good car cover that is made for a mustang and make sure the car is clean before you use it. Also that it is tied down well so it dont blow around in the wind. If not you will get lots of scratches.
