Hard Button HVAC control

RE: Hard Button HVAC control

It will fit but will NOT work. You need one specified for a '96 that looks the same as the '98.

RE: Hard Button HVAC control

You know, the shop installed a hard button climate control unit into my 1993 Mark VIII and it hasn't worked right since. It seems to me the fan knob doesn't work right. It likes to kick on at random and OFTEN (like every 2-3 seconds sometimes). Also, it often doesn't let me control the fan speed properly with the knob. -- Lastly, when accelerating or even holding steady and going up a hill it will occasionally move all of the blowing air into the defrost vents, even if I have MAX AIR turned on.

Did they install the wrong part? Wouldn't shock me if they did... knowing the story on these guys at Mid States Ford in Waukee Iowa. - avoid them at all costs.

Chad, check the blower motor harness from the controller to the blower motor(behind the glovebox) for bad connections or corrosion. Repair as necessary.

Defrost mode is the default mode for the EATC(Electronic Air Temperature Controller). Vacuum is required for all other functions. Sounds like you have a vacuum leak, especially if you're losing it while accelerating. Run a vacuum test and check for leaks not only at the EATC

but under the hood as well.

Do you know the part number for the EATC they installed?
