Hawk Lincoln Mercury in Chicago

RE: Hawk Lincoln Mercury in Chicago

No, you're correct, Trixie! :) Going a little further....it's a Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan.... 1967 or 8 with a 428 Super Cobra Jet V-8 - one of a handfull made!! I believe that 4 remain. I darn near lost my shorts when I saw that. It can smoke that Pantera next to it!

ROFL, well poor placement for them then, cause I don't remember too many people looking at it, including me!

RE: Hawk Lincoln Mercury in Chicago

That was the idea behind the 428SCJ Comet...... A Sleeper!! Wolf in Sheep Clothing! :)

A kick outta that Townie??? I darn near got a puke outta it!! :)

Sandy I like the red Mark II I had a blue one just like that , wish I had it now...
The white car has a visor just to throw you off ...You are the master Sandy but I say 65 Ford Fairlane

Now that I read down further I guess I am wrong , I dont know how you got all that from that picture Sandy but thats why you are the master..

RE: Hawk Lincoln Mercury in Chicago

Blow the picture up, to the largest you can make it. It should fill your monitor. Look past the fuel door cover. If a Fairlane it would have llllooonnnggg drawn out semi-script saying f-a-i-r-l-a-n-e.....
Next, look at the driver's side rear window. See that it's not clear, like the windshield, but foggy. That is because the side & rear windows are plexi-glass to cut the weight.
Next, look at the lower front rocker panel, just behind the tire. See that it's sorta kinda rolled, and not a ruler sharp defined crease? That's because it's fiberglass, to cut weight and they cannot get (well in 1967) a sharply chisled line from the fiberglass as they could from steel. Also, the wheel lips are flanged :: Not so on a Fairlane!!!

428 Cobra Jet Mercury Comet 202 2-Dr. Sedan (1967) "Wimbledon White", black vinyl taxi-cab level interior, no rugs, no options, 4-speed stick, heater & defroster and an AM radio. Bat-outta-heII with a junk yard pit bull not fed for a week attitude! Poly Glas rubber....Whoaaaa! :) 13 were made, all in White - (As opposed to how many 1,000s of Panteras?? 0-70 my $$$ is on the Comet 202 :)
The Pantera is a "Woooo, look at THIS" The 427CJ Comet 202 is a "Took 'ya by surprise.....now you'll look at me!!"

RE: Hawk Lincoln Mercury in Chicago

Next time I have to take a more challenging shot for Sandy. Wow, I had no idea I was looking at such a rare car. It was nice and the owner is the guy standing up in the white t-shirt.
Nice guy, while looking at the car I noticed he had a glass bottle with blue fluid under hood which is the extra windshield washer fluid. Said it took him years to find one and now everytime he spots one, he buys it. Also, it was a frame off restoration that took him longer than it should have since his garage caught fire and it set him back about 6 months. Just a little bit of info I got from the guy that I actually remember. :)
