head gasket ??

My 95 Mark VIII heat gauge sky rockets within 20 min of driving.. The on board computer says engine temps fine. I found that the engine fan wasn't turning on but it makes no diffrence with the gauge. The car has 145,000 miles and isnt leaking coolant.

You have an air bubble in the coolent system. Remove the crossover tube cover and add fluid....

Or a stuck thermostat.

you said the fan doesnt turn on you probably have a faulty vcrm module, does your ac not work also?

i think i might have the same issue with my car. a little different symptoms but is there any way to test the vcrm?

yeah slap another one on and see if the fan comes on!! never hurts to have a spare if it turns out that isnt the problem, pretty soon you wont be able to get the vcrm anyway.
