head lights on always?

on my 93 mark v111 the light switch is turned off but the head and tail lights are on any ideas on this when car is running:confused:
 
Funny, I had the same problem with my 98. Lights would come on as soon as I turned the key, even with the autolamps off. Searched around for an answer and didn't come up with anything. My cousin brought the Ford scanner home to pull codes from the SCIL, pulled 3 codes from it I believe but only one really related to the lights. He then decided to do a self test of the SCIL and after the test the lights have worked fine ever since. Not sure if that helps you at all but I would start with trying to get codes out of the SCIL.
 
you probably have a melted discolored photocell lense for your auto lights, and it thinks its dark out any time of day, look at it and see, its on top of the dash on the far right side passenger side, you can look down through the windshield and see the lense, it should be nice and clear, but they get brown and burnt from the sun, its round about the size of a dime, you cant miss it.
 
no replace it, you can get one in a bone yard or i should still have a box of them in my garage. i cant say for sure thats your problem but its a pretty good assumption.

I agree, I don't like them. I'd like to take them out of both of my Gen 2's.:D

I'll do that after I put one of my Gen 1 intake manifolds on the 97.:)

I did have the headlight on problem, in my 98 a couple times, but it never came back. I had to disconnect the battery for it to shut off. Probably just the light sensor lense like Jamie says.

If that's not it, I'd check the headlight switch next. I think there was a Gen 1 headlight switch Technical Service Bulletin (or recall?) about it in the early years?
 
Founnd out the problem car was under an open side carport looked bright but not bright enough for the little eye backed it out and lights went off thanks for your help!!
 
It's pretty funny you have to admit it. :) I read one time that a guy had a dash cover and was complaining about the same thing.
