It sure doesn't seem slow to me, but I'm sure when you're there eveyday, watching all of the slackers at work, it seems slow. Anyway, it's getting there, and it looks great. Good luck!

Many members of my family have had houses built and as nice as it is when all is said and done with, the experience can really test your health, nerves, marriage whatever... Afterwards though, if you survive, you have a one of kind house that you created from scratch.

Beautiful, man. It must be nice to start from scratch, and build exactly what you want in the location of your choosing.
I'm looking to buy a house right now, but i'm severely limited by $$. For what i want to spend, i can buy about a 900 square foot house in a reasonable neighborhood (right next to detroit, but the cops are real pricks so the criminals aren't that much of a problem). For the same $$, about 16 years ago, my dad bought a 2000 square foot brick house on the water, on a beautiful secluded bay with deep water access to the lake, on a large lot, in a neighborhood with almost zero crime.

its amazing how much the houseing market went up. I originally spec'ed this house to be built Way out east on Long island, the lowest bid which didnt include land, was 750,000 and an acre around here fetches 150-500k. So thats exactly when i started looking at Md, FL, Pa, Nj, etc.

NJ is probably worse than most places in NY. I have seen house in a particualr town go from 150,000 to 750,000 over night - no joke. And that was for a little 60 X 80 piece of property, not even on the water. On the water - forget about it man! Through the roof.
FL might have been your best bet. My brothers friend just had a 5600 sq' ft' house built outside of Ft. Lauderdale for $240,000 with all the creature features.
