RE: House update 3-16-04

Pete, would you allow me a question?

First off, I absolutly Love this view:-

Now my question. Why did you chose to put the garage facing a different side than the house, but yet (apparently) intend to connect them? I would have thought that you'd have the garage facing the same direction as the front of the house.
Just curious as to what influenced your decession therein.

Looking very nice, again, best of luck and happiness therein. :)

Me and my girlfriend wanted to hide the sheer size of the garage, its the same size as the house, we both belived it would not blend well. Plus the width would have been to great to make it look decent. Plus im not a fan of the garage doors up front type.

RE: House update 3-16-04

You could always stick some big fake doors on the front side of the garage and pretend it's a barn. ;-)

Lookin good pete.
Sandy, I hate seeing garage doors in the front.I personally want a detached 3-4 car garage and 1-2 attached to the house, but not in plain view.

I agree, keeps the mess out of the way.

Very nice Pete. I have to agree on the garage, i want a huge one, but having all the doors face the street would look kind of crappy. I actually want a drive-through garage, like you see at some auto shops, with a door in front and a door in back, a driveway down the middle, and 6-8 bays off to either side of the aisle. Of course to make that look right in any residential area you'd need to have some windows and some nice landscaping around it.

Petey... lookin' good there! I see my room is nearly finished too huh?

Will the garage be heated? If so, why not put in glass enclosures along the breezeway so that you can go back and forth between the house and garage without losing heat during the winter. The glass walls will still give it that open appearance while being practical.

RE: House update 3-16-04

i dont want to close off the breezeway at all, i want to keep the detached look, i dont want to walk 1/2 mile around the house to get the to the backyard, and the pillars in the breezeway match the pillars on the front porch/deck to give it the "look".

the garage will heated via, infared propane, and cooled via 2 1/2 ton central air unit. the garage also has its own water heater and slop sink and hot & cold hose bibs

RE: House update 3-16-04

the garage will be wrapped, and insulated with r-19. and r-30 in the ceiling. The front dorr will have a raised concert patio, with steps of course!
