How do I get this pin stripe off?

Okay, so my 98 came with the pearl paint and this ridiculus black pin stripe that I want gone. The paint and body are excellent so how do I get rid of it without damaging the paint. Any one know how to do this peacefully and cost effective?

Since your car is 11 years old, if the pin stripe is original and if you take it off you will probably still see the line because the paint around it will be faded.

If its paint, you may be screwed. Try some laquer thinner on the inside of the trunk lid to
see if it crazes the paint, or not. If it doesnt, you may be good to go. If its tape, be patient. Start a corner and with a steady pressure pull it off. If it breaks, start again. If it leaves the glue, no sweat, the glue will come off with lighter fluid or other solvent. Some times you can just rub over it with your finger and roll it right up. Be very careful if you do that as it'll give you a blister in a heartbeat.

I had a double gold stripe down the side of my Cordovan CE.
It took two days with a plastic scraper and Murphy's oil soap (you need something to keep the surface slick). After that I used mineral spirits sparingly to remove the remaning glue.
You'll need to detail the paint afterward.
Just remember to take your time!

I had the car detailed and asked them to remove it. No problem and no faded paint. ;)

I'm with JP...pay someone else to do it! I used to take paint stripes off with a high pressure washer....works great.

All great advise. I will start with the detail and if that doesn't work I guess I will have to put the time in. I will update once completed. thanks

I've heated up stickers and tape stripes with a blowdryer to remove them before. It was the first thing I did when I got the Mark home! I hate dealership stickers.

The heat from the dryer makes the sticky underside of the stripe soft and gooey again.

3M has some stuff that will remove it, but I'm with Driller, get the car detailed as the detailer probably has the stuff in his kit anyhow.
