How do I remove the rear section of the LSC dual exhaust?

I need to drop the rear section of my exhaust so I can remove my fuel tank. The dual system has 1 pipe with a slip joint and muffler clamp that I can't get free. I tried using a small welding/brazing torch to heat the joint, but lying on my back under the car, I can't work the sucker free. Any suggestions short of cutting the pipe off?

Maybe slitting the outer pipe would work, but how much overlap do I have to work with? I don't want to end up with a leak when I reassemble everything.

a whole lot of PB Blaster will really help. you might not have much choice but to cut it off, and have it welded back on when you're done.
