I drove an MKS yesterday

It's a nice vehicle. I don't care much for that type of car but it would be nice and comfy on a long expressway drive.

It had all wheel drive, single exhaust, coil spring suspension and a V6. It seemed to be pretty peppy but I didn't care for the shifting of the trans. I didn't try the manual shifting gate though.

It had a lot of the toys but it didn't have the available navigation or moonroff.

It had one of those pushbutton starters that I don't like either. It works fine now but, in ten years, good luck finding the module for it when it fails.

Here's a couple of photos:

Nice, but not for me. One thing I love about the Mark VIII is the simple/clean interior. That dash is too busy and looks messy. Plus I am so used to the two tiered dash of the MK8 that I hate being in cars with wall dashes.

Oh, and its a 4 door. yuk.

They look nice but not for me either
Wonder if that is the same blimp I am seeing on night shift Has neon lights??

Bill - a few questions if you wouldn't mind?

- How was the overall fit and finish? I've seen some reviews say that it's cheap, disgraceful plastic and others say it was above par.

- Was it quiet on the road? It seems most new cars these days have such cheap insulation, road and noise is more than apparent. Lexus is the only car I've driven lately that "has it right."

- What didn't you like about the trans? Was it sloppy or just lacked aggressive shift points?

I've had a long, exhaustive and expensive search trying to find something I like as much as the Mark VIII. The only thing I've found thus far is a $80-90k Lexus... I had high hopes for the MKS. :)

I'd say that the overall fit and finish was great. It didn't seem like cheap plastic to me.

The car was quiet, I didn't take it on the expressway and I was hammering on it a bit but there were no noises that I'd complain about.

I guess what I didn't like about the trans was it was too soft for me. That might just be because I'm not used to driving 6 cylinder cars. It's got the manual shifting gate, I guess that's why they put it there. I should have tried it.

It really can't be compared to the Mark VIII, It's more close to the Town Car. That's what they're shooting for. I think if I was a Town Car driver, I'd like it a lot more. It did remind me a lot of driving my Dad's Town Car.

I wonder how one of those would react to a tune, firm up the shifts, maybe turn up the boost a lil, with the awd those things could be fun cars from a stop i'd think.

We'll have to wait to mess with the boost as the Eco-Boost twin turbo won't be available for another year in MKS.

Some of you guys are seriously tripping. That dash looks just fine, just because it isn't split down the middle doesn't make it bad.

That said Lincoln really needs to stop making sub-par cars... this thing can't compare to a 3 series a C class or a lexus IS and even a cadillac CTS.

Yea... better... especially if you think that it looks worse than the mark :p IMO ;)

HAHA....

Well I dunno. I think its sharp, I just prefer the Mark VIII dash. I will have to see one in person to make an honest opinion I suppose!

I just wish it was a two door, more than anything thats the once thing that will prevent me from buying a car - four doors.

Yes, take it for a test drive.

I only had a short drive in the car so don't let my comments stop anyone. I'm not an expert. I actually don't like Lexuses.:D

Also, that is a horrible photo of that dash. It looks a lot nicer in person.

Yeah, I know, you need a new camera Bill.:)

Good luck finding an ignition cylinder for a Mark VIII in ten years...
