I've been curious at the amount of mid-range in my mark.
I run the Polyglass 165 V2's (focal) in the doors. I have a Kenwood amp that is hooked up in the trunk for those speakers. I went to get the kenwood amp installed and wired and the audio shop decided to splice the wires from the 600w amp to the ALREADY EXISTING FORD FACTORY WIRES THAT GO TO THE HEADUNIT instead of running new wires to the crossovers. They had run new wires from the amp to to top rear of the trunk so I never saw the splice.
Today I was looking at the crossover thinking there could be something wrong and I pulled the crossover out a bit and a friend noticed that at the end of the wire attached to the INPUT of the crossover was SPLICED TO THE FORD FACTORY WIRES. These were a different color than those in the trunk also.
If I ran the same HU I could see how they would do this and expect it to work but THIS IS A BRAND NEW HEADUNIT. I couldn't believe it.
I went to the audio shop perplexed how they thought this would work (and why they didn't just tell me how it was wired). I didn't know if the running of the wires from the speakers to the amp was included in the the amp and power line install but obviously it isn't. The manager when I showed him the wires YELLED IN MY FACE telling me not to "come there and make him angry" and that "he installs 6000$ systems every day and doesn't care about a 20$ here and there" (whatever that's soppose to mean). He kept on going bring it in in the morning and we'll look at it yada yada after he had insulted me and brashly talked to me like an imbicil. I was being totally complient with what we had done with the car (6 months ago)... agreeing with what we had done and what we agreed would be included in the installment. We didn't get to the point of if the speakers in the doors would be included in the install because he blew up and I threw up my hands and said bye.
I just replaced the tweets because they both blew. Since I installed them I am beginning to hear a humming in the speakers which I'm suspicious of.
Anyway, so yea they told me I needed a new amp for the components b/c the amp I had (another aftermarked amp) wasn't working and then upon installed said amp never connected it to the components so it's been sitting in the trunk not doing a damn thing but heating up and cooling down. The components have been running completely off the HU internal amp.
I'm miffed. I don't know if this was a lack of communication or lazyness on their part.
