I have a temperature problem

Howdy peeps. What's been up? I havent been around for a while and I apologize. Hopefully everyone is healthy and happy. ;)

The mark has a problem. I had an oil leak where the oil filter attatches to the block... that gasket right there I had replaced by the mechanic. After getting the car back I noticed a bit of coolant had leaked... then I started getting low coolant messages even when it was full... then the temperature started fluctuating dramatically... and finally the temp just goes all the way to the top.

Is this a thermastat problem? If so how hard is it to replace it myself?

Anyone have any part numbers for me?

thanks for any help

It appears you have leaked enough anti-freeze to show a low coolant message. This along with the indication of the cooling system being full all the while with dramatically fluctuating temperature, tells me you have air trapped in the cooling system. What sometimes happens is leakage is thermally dynamic and antifreeze leaks out and air leaks in(not technically, but you get the idea).

I would have the system pressure tested and have any leaks repaired. Then a complete coolant system flush would be in order. A new thermostat and hoses at this time would also be cheap insurance against future catastrophic failure.

Thanks for the reply driller.

Also, after just going out and starting the mark after 2 days of it sitting it started up very rough. Could that indicate anything?

Check the fuel system, filter, pump pressure, etc.

I'd second that.
