Is it supposed to switch to deforest when ignition is r

Is it just my car? Or do all marks do that? Every time I remove my key, the A/C changes to deforest mode, which causes the windshield to fog up at night, (or while I’m driving, which is VERY annoying).

I can hear it open and close, it sounds exactly like a squeaking door that needs some lubrication.

So what I’m asking is..... Does my car have a problem? Or is it designed that way? Because I’m just sick and tired of having to clean my windshield from the inside all the time. The fog leaves this nasty residue on the windshield.

"Ranting off"

THANKS

Doesn't sound like anything I've ever seen on mine. Fog on the glass (water droplets actually) could be the air conditioning venting in the wrong direction. But if you have FOG coming out of the vents - or a residue - it's usually a leaky heater core -- that would be coolant collecting on the glass.

Either way - it doesn't sound too good to me.

NOTE: 'defrost mode' not 'deforest mode' ;-)

It's not the heater core, I been through that in another car of mine, and I would of known if it was the heater core or not. and its not water droplets (because this happens anytime the A/C is OFF), its this dirty air coming from the vents, if you blow at it with your mouth, it will go away, but if no one is there, and over time.. It just sticks to the glass, and forms this layer which causes lights to glair at night.

I'm pretty sure the default mode is the defrost position, at least Gen1 anyways. If the EATC malfunctions, defrost is all you've got.

That's what i thought.. any way to change that?

See - just like I said - if the EATC malfunctions you go into default mode and the unburned water molecules form on the window (or something like that) ;-)

From what I recall without looking through the manual, the various controls are spring-biased vacumn-operated motors which provide mechanical motion to certain doors/dampers in the HVAC system. The EATC controls the vacumn routing and subsequently directs the airflow as required by the driver input to the EATC. However, without vacumn which is supplied via a running engine, the spring bias overcomes the vacumn actuator to position the door/damper at the default position.

The most you could do would be troubleshoot for a possible vacumn leak which may be causing a malfunction in one of the motors.
