Hello, I got my frist mark VIII ( 1998 ) It has the JBL audio every thing works good. Well it did till I tryed to play music with any bass. I have 2 of the speakers popping bad. The 10 disk player works great and I don't want to change any of that. I guess what I need to know is how hard are the door and rear speakers are to change. Also what size are they I have been told 6x8 or 5x7. I think the system would sound ok with just a good set of after market speakers. is this some thing I should try or take to a shop? Thanks
Mike.

RE: JBL audio

The rears take about 5 min to change. You have to take off the door panel for the fronts... roughly 30min. Aftermarket speakers won't work right because the JBL system has crossovers built in that filter the higher frequencies to the speakers. I would suggest that you simply go on ebay and get yourself factory replacements. They sell cheap. Stock speaker size is 5x7.

RE: JBL audio

Tahnks a lot. I had no idea about the cross over. I will just look for a factory set. I hate to pull out all the stero stuff it all works but the damaged speakers.
