Just got my new headlights in

Former LOD President
I ordered new headlights for my '97, to go with my new paint job. I got them from fordpartsnetwork.com. They arrived yesterday, with a little surprise. They come with bulbs! All of the bulbs, even the HID bulbs. I paid $200 for one side and $230 for the other, and i was under the impression that that was for just the housing, but when i got them, all the bulbs were there! I was surprised and happy, considering the bulbs are what, $175 now? I doubt it was a fluke, since they were with both lights. Bonus!

So now if one of your bulbs goes bad, and your lenses are looking a little bit rough, you might want to just get the whole assembly.

RE: Just got my new headlights in

No fluke. Had a friend buy them last year for about the same price and he thought maybe they made a mistake but they didn't. I'm sure others would select the option to get a new housing if they knew the cost difference. I think you can still get bulbs for under $150 but its still a good deal to get the whole housing.

$429.98 -- Sub-Total

I don't know offhand which one was the right and which was the left though. Thats for the second gen, of course, and it comes with all the bulbs.

Sounds like a Great deal. But they dont come with the "eye lids" do they? If not, does anyone sell those? I think I need a couple for my car.

RE: Just got my new headlights in

The housing itself, without bulbs, is not very expensive, maybe $50 to $75 . So that price is about right.

RE: Just got my new headlights in

Leo, from where is the housing available without bulbs?

Moe, what do you mean by "eyelids"?

I once asked Five Star and I remember them quoting me a price around $75

RE: Just got my new headlights in

"Eyelids" are those chrome strips/body color on LSC's under the headlights, I said eyelids for lack of a better word.

I don’t see 50-$75Bucs to be expensive at all for the housing alone. On most cars, it costs well over $170+, without any HID bulbs anyhow.

RE: Just got my new headlights in

no, they don't come with the trim strip below the headlight. Or "eyelid" as you call it. When you said eyelid, i was thinking of the chrome visors that i've seen on the headlights on some older lincolns, which look more like eyelids or eyelashes.

RE: Just got my new headlights in

When I had my headlight assembly and chrome molding replaced (aka eyelid) last year before Carlisle, I was charged $133.33 for a USED headlight assembly, and the chrome molding was $68.37 and held up the repair of the car as it was difficult to locate.

I should have just bought myself a whole new assembly, including a bulb.... Well, good to know in case there's ever a next time.

Not to hi-jack the post, but i was wondering what would i have to do for a 94 mark to run with HID and how much?

A lot. Probably around a grand, by the time you're done. If you want them, start hunting at junkyards, maybe you can find a good deal. Myself, i said hell with it, i'm buying a gen 2. It was a lot easier.

RE: Just got my new headlights in

I recently posted the same simular heading I was surprised as well when I got the whole assy.. I had just bought the bulb alone for 170$ for 5star.
I am curious more about your paint job what color is it and how did your paint job come out? What was the cost if I may ask I am ready to do the same for mine....

Just go with aftermarket HIDs, from any reputable company expect to pay anywhere between $400-$600 new. The install is a very direct and simple "plug & play".

RE: Just got my new headlights in

I'm still waiting to get the car back, so i can't give a final word on how it came out. Last i saw (monday), they had wet-sanded everything but the doors. They said i'd get it back today, i plan on looking into it at lunch. No final word on the cost, but it will be $1000 out of my pocket, + parts, + however much he got from the insurance company (it was about $1500 from the insurance, but i'm sure he called and had them add more to the estimate). So all in all, i'd have to say around $4000 for a dent fixed on the drivers quarter, all dings taken care of, everything painted but the roof, new headlights, new side moldings, a new compressor and a spider valve.
