I lost my hard drive about a month ago and (of course) never wrote down on paper what this forums URL was. Took me close to that long to find you guys again. Lincolns of distinction.COM is something else altogether. Never thought of trying .org. But searched many search engines into page 10's etc. W/O finding a thing on you. Might want to put .ORG on the header there. Had a stranger from lincolnsonline finally give me the URL.

OK, we appreciate the heads up, but those of us who have been around for a while know the whole lucid story. There is far too much history to repeat here, but...
For the benefit of others, the dot com URL was effectively stolen by an irate former member a long time ago during a very dark and troubled period for the club. There were those who left and formed another site and the Lincolns of Distinction dot COM site became a hotly disputed legal battle which was eventually lost.
But even before that, we used to be at home at "MarkVIII dot org". Apparently there was a dispute as to "who" owned the website and long story short - the "club" left the site and started their own website. To this day, there is still Lincolns of Distinction material wrongfully hosted there AND there are still people who believe the MarkVIII dot org site is the club website!
So goes the saga behind the name "Lincolns of Distinction dot ORG".

there is the lincoln logo, and then under it says Lincolns of Distinction ( theres no " dot org" ) in the title
sounds like too much work to appease someone that cant - add to favorites-
sorry about the hard drive, which is why they also make PAPER
i recommend at this time to write down all your favorite sites, as well as your contacts in your cell phone, ive lost several lists due to water or stolen phones...so..paper and a pen and keep it safe ( cmon, we learned this in grade school )

The best way to backup personal stuff is to install a 2nd hard drive. If your house burns down, it won't save you, but then you've got bigger problems.

well, external backups are best way then put into a fireproof safe but off site backup is a very very good way to back things up, I am affiliated with a company that does just this and your computer can fully restored without any real downtime. Never put all your eggs in one basket.
yea its rough but nothing like the streets
exactly and sometimes I forget, I can understand how someone new may not notice it. I did the same thing in the beginning. look here

My next step is to put personal files on a memory stick and then keep it at my dad's place.
As for the OS and the apps, I end up reinstalling Windows about every other year due to registry glitches anyway.
