Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

Ok, I read in the manual that the keyless entry and/or remote entry is supposed to load up the programmable seat preferences for that specific remote. My seats don't budge.

I opened the glovebox, shorted the grey doohickey and reprogrammed the remote control (the locks did the lock/unlock thing to confirm). But still.. when I unlock the car with the remote it doesn't move the seat the programmed position. Was this not an feature on all of the cars? I've also tried just using the keyless entry to see if that's what it meant.. but still, no movement.

Related question: the programming keys don't seem to recall my mirror positions.. though the manual says it should?

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

I know on my remote there is an on/off switch for the driver memory, did you check that? Also what happens when you hit the memory buttons on the door panel?

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

There's an on/off on your remote? I dont have a switch I dont think, unless it's inside.

When I use the remote control or the keypad it doesn't seem to matter, no seat movement. I've tried clearing all of the codes and reprogramming one and still nothing. Strange. Was this a standard feature on the 94 Mark VIII?

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

I have the remote for a 97-98 so I can't for sure if you have the on off switch then. But if you don't move your seat from the programed position then it won't move when you get back in the car.

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

On a 94 Mark (I have a 94 Mark) its possible to turn the keyless "auto-memory" seat function off. I had to turn mine off because it was acting kinda funky. No matter how many times I set the seat memory via the door panel swithces, every time I opened the car using the remote, the seat would glide into a position I did not program. I would have to re-adjust the seat everytime I entered the car, so I shut it off.

It may be that this feature is turned OFF on your car.

Instructions are from the 1994 Ford service manual (pg. 01-14B-5):

"The feature is turned ON at the factory. The system can be deactivated by using the buttons for the electronic door lock contol system."

To DEACTIVATE the memory seat feature:

1) Enter the module permanent five-digit entry code.

2) Within 5 seconds, press and HOLD 7/8.

3) While holding 7/8, within five seconds press and RELEASE 5/6.

4) Release 7/8.

To REACTIVATE the memory seat system, simply repeat the instructions for deactivating the system.

Try it out, let us know.

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

I hate it when I spend a lot of time typing a response and no one thanks me.

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

I know that feeling, it happens to me quite often as well.

With that said.

Thanks for taking the time to type out those lengthy instructions.

more than likely, the person read it, and immediately TRIED IT.

it's kinda like when you make a post and leave a "link" to another website.. more times than not... you'll not get a reply, because the people have followed the link are and "GONE".

thanks again for making that very informative post/reply

kindest regards

RE: Keyless/Remote entry and Seat positions

Well for your info there grumps, I just saw the message reply. :p
I'm still here and I thank you for taking the time to post that.. though I did read it in the manual and I've tried it over and over but no matter .. it just doesn't seem to care.
I follow the procedure then:
Program my seat to a specific position in memory slot 1.
Move my seat out of position, close the door.
I lock it with the remote.
Unlock it with the remote.
Seat doesn't move.
I unlock it with the keypad.
Seat doesn't move.

Program my seat to a specific position in memory slot 2.
Move my seat out of position, close the door.
I lock it with the remote.
Unlock it with the remote.
Seat doesn't move.
I unlock it with the keypad.
Seat doesn't move.

Program my seat to a specific position in memory slot 3.
Move my seat out of position, close the door.
I lock it with the remote.
Unlock it with the remote.
Seat doesn't move.
I unlock it with the keypad.
Seat doesn't move.

So.. I reprogram the REMOTE itself and begin again.
I also follow the procedure to enable/disable the auto-memory recall feature and do all of the above again, still no love.

But thank you for the response! ;)
