"Some unlikely cars competed in this year's burnout contest at the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals, including a pair of Lincoln Mark VIII's..."

The white Mark VIII is mine. And I'll be posting it in the classifieds BTW if anyone is interested in it. I was very happy that More Than Tires hooked me up with doing a new mount and balance Sunday morning. Riding home on the donut would not have been cool.

Awesome! Thanks for posting those links! I was napping during the burnout contest. Can't wait to see the other ones, too.

Has anyone came across footage of the other Mark VIII burnout? I heard Billcu had one awesome vid of it.I also know that badsax had it from a different angle.

I've got a video Matt.

It's not an awesome video, but the burnout sure is.:D

The video posted was much better. He had an elevated view which I didn't.

Also, mine is from my new camera, and the zooms are faster than I'm used to.

My old computer hates my new camera. I've been having trouble with the data. Don't worry, It's already on a CD.

I'll post the video as soon as I sort this out.:)

What's up with that??? Hundreds upon hundreds of Mustangs with 50 Lincolns and the Lincolns rule the burnout contest?! LOL! :D

Thanks bill. My brother got some footage but it only showed the front end of the car.He needs photography lessons. I watched a good one on someones laptop saturday night. Oh well, if anyone runs across anything please try to post a link here, i'd greatly appreciate it. BTW I had a great time this weekend. It was good to finally meet you guys after reading your stuff for 5 years.

Matt, I brought my laptop to the banquet Saturday night and showed the video that I had. If that is the one that you're talking about, I've still got it.

This darn computer keeps crashing on me, if I have to, I'll mail the CD to you.:D

thats crazyness, I guess these are throwaway tires? I can't believe that T-Bird engine didn't blow like the tires. Good stuff though

Actually on my car they were not throwaway tires. They probably had only about 1500 miles on them or so. I did my burnout on a lark. The tire had pebbles impregnated in it from the burnout that I could hear the whole ride back to the hotel. The next morning I spoke to a company called to More than Tires on the field. They did not have my brand and since I'm selling the car and not sure what the next guy or gal will want to do with the car I had them just throw on a 40,000 mile new replacement for the one side that needed it. It was a hell of a fun last hurrah for me with the car though. :)

BTW guys I found a photo online of the other Mark VIII doing its burnout there:

I think it ROCKS that we had two cool Lincoln burnouts. 5 burnout contestants are thew fewest I've ever seen there and for it to be two Lincolns, two Thunderbirds and only one Mustang was just bizarre (though cool as hell). Like someone mentioned earlier, considering the amount of each on the showfield we really showed the Mustang crowd up.

I saw him drink so you may want to rethink that. :D

He's got a point there Matt.:D

I was drinking all day, and it was the premium grade too.:)

Actually, it was so hot, it took me all day to drink about 6 beers (I only had an 8 pack of Guinness with me).

Yes Joe, I've got a video of your car too. I've even got that golf cart thing doing a burnout. I'll post more when I get back from work.

If you guys want to thank me, just join the club. We need more members like you guys.:D

Well I used to be a member years ago. But since I'm trying to sell the Mark I must resist re-joining, otherwise I may not sell it! Its bad enough having driven it each day since I came home from Carlisle in it. The AC sure has been nice, plus the very comfy seats, things my commuter/driver 72 Pontiac Lemans don't have. If only I could afford a Jay Leno size warehouse right in one of NYC's five boroughs I'd keep the darn car. * Sigh *
