Little Spat with a Honda S2000

Pulled up by an S2000 yesterday at the light. I wasn't sure if I should tempt him or not since I've been trying to be a good boy. We both pulled out normal and apparently we both were waiting for the other to make a move. He was ahead when he decided to go. He gained a little but it was brief. I started reeling him in around 60-80mph and he backed off about the time my nose was even with his.

Anyone know what the 1/4 mi times are for these. I thought I might get spanked. Maybe he was a bad driver or maybe the cars aren't that quick???

They're faster than our cars if driven right, but rare is the owner who knows how to drive one. They have 240 hp at 8300 rpm, but a measly 153 lb-ft at 7500 rpm. Published 1/4 mile time is 14.1 @ 99.2 mph, but that's obtained by launching harder than most owners think is even possible, and shifting at a point waaay higher than most engines even rev to.

ive had mixed results with these things. from a stop, they should get the jump, but if u continue, your chances of winning get better.

RE: Little Spat with a Honda S2000

Back in 2000 I watched one of my buddies in his GSX take off like a slingshot from the start line (All wheel drive) and the S2000 ended up losing by a tiny margin. I think the times were around 14.85 seconds, not 100% on that though. I know my buddy there had a 16g turbo running about 16psi. A couple other Eclipses there did 12.8 (one of the 12.8 cars didn't even have nitrous) and another eclipse could do 120mph but his times weren't that great (he didn't have nitrous either), I think it was the driver and he even admitted that.
