Just got back from Florida and now I'm looking to finish that stereo system that I had started. I just got a (another...) IDMAX 12d2 with dual 2ohm VCs. Anyone have a good amp for that sub that they would recomend?? The paperwork says 1000w RMS 1800w max. I have been out of the scene for too long and have r4eally forgoten what is out there. Any help, sugestions or otherwise is appreciated!

RE: Looking for Amps

As much as it will draw you're current, try to get a class AB amp. The IDMAX is built with incredible close tolerances, and quite often small things such as mounting them at an angle or the distortion inherent in a class D amp and cause the voice coil to rub and damage the sub. THe price you pay for one of the best SQ subs on the market.

What's your budget? A zapco 9.0 would be perfect, www.woofersetc.com will most likely have the best price on them.

if youre not rich (zapco) and can find one, id suggest a ppi pcx 2200. ab amp and will give u a solid 800 watts for that sub. maybe even find yourself a jl 1000.1, anything linear power, or an arc 2500.

Wow, it is now becoming apparent as to how little I know about this sub.... Dont worry about the current, that will be taken care of. So, mounting this bad boy, does it have to be vertical? or is any 90* incriment alright, like with the center-line fo the sub horizontal? I want to do whats best for this sub!

Linear Power?? I need some help with that one!

The PPI Pcx line seems to be pretty tough to come by...

Checked out the JL 1000/1, and the website says that it is a class D?? Definitely a lot closer to my price range than the zapco, but is it gonna do the job well and not hurt the VC?

But that arc audio 2500 sounds like a pretty hot deal. Now, where can I find one??

just the sub amp, i figure out the rest later.

RE: Looking for Amps

that sub will be fine no matter how u mount it. just make sure the box is of top quality. with the money u have to spend, id look into arc over at rainarc.com. u may be able to find them cheaper on ebay or somewhere else, but thats the 1st place that comes to mind. also, for the money, id look into tru amps. ive never seen such a loyal following of an audio company (since arc anyway) than these guys. everyone ive spoken to that owns these amps gives nothing but praises about every aspect. go to google and search for tru amps cuz im feeling lazy right now. also look into us amps.
