Looking for location of the a/c recharge port

First hot day (Saturday) here in NJ and first real problem with my Lincoln. The A/C does not blow cold air. I have purchased recharge kit with leak sealant but I have no idea where the port to recharge is. I have found one on the driver side by the firewall that says something about evaporator access but I am unsure that's the right thing.

Anybody has a picture as I am not a mechanic :)

Thanks.

If you are NOT a mech and can not find the A/C charging port, I highly suggest that you have a qualified person do this for you. You may NOT have a charge / low coolent problem, but a blend door problem!! You do NOT want to overcharge your A/C system!!!!

I have successfully re-charged 3 cars in the past and almost all kits now have some sort of indicator to show you the charge status so I doubt I will overcharge the system. I just want to check and refill if necessary. If I spot a problem I will definitely go to a mechanic but for now a quick recharge should tell me if the problem is with leak, blend door as you suggested or if it is just low on gas.

Go to the top of the electrical thread...there is a sticky note there that points you to the repair manual for most all vehicles....select your make/year/model and you have the complete electrical and maint repair manual.

Thanks for the info but unfortunately: "Repair or service of air conditioning components is not covered by this manual...".

The A/C Low pressure valve is located back near the firewall on the passenger side....at the top of the accumulator/dryer.

Thanks budpytko. I think I have found it when I was originally looking under the hood but was unsure. Now I am :)

Do you know if standard recharge kits will fit this port? My first look and guess was that the kit will not fit without some sort of adapter. But that was just me looking without the recharge kit available. I will have to check that when I get back home tonight. Tomorrow's another day when we hit almost 80.

If that kit doesn't have the gauge...I highly suggest that you look up the blend door problem in here and check IT out first!! It doesn't take long......

Blend door smlend door, haha. Do the continentals have blend door issues like the Marks?

The recharge kits should be R-134a or Freeze 12, both will include the proper connector. Just follow the directions on the bottle and it will walk you through the charging process.
