Low beam bulb extraction

Hello there!

Low beam on the rightside died, and I went and picked up a Silverstar to put in.

So(following the procedure in the owners manual), I pop the hood, pull the old bulb out, put the Silverstar in, and.... Hmmm, no head light.

Well, as the stomach acid started churning I had to get across the street to ACE Hardware and get some stuff, and get going to work.

I'm looking at it at work, and what a ID 10 T error! I had swapped out the high beam by mistake! Hey! It was right there and easy to get to!

So, I go to pull the connection off of the bottom of the low beam, and A - It's a tight fit for my hands, and B - It won't budge. Even with improvised implements of destruction, it doesn't want to budge.

Is there a trick to disconnecting the low beam bulbs from the connection?

Thanks again!

SC

ps - You know, with just one headlight, it really doesn't seem that much darker at night......

The low beams are on the outside, away from the middle of the car. I assume you are twisting the bulb in a counter clockwise direction? And I also assume you have a 93-96 Mark. 97-98 are a whole different deal. And yeah, I used the word "assume"...

i have a feeling its an hid and he doesnt know. that would make sense why it isnt coming out because its screwed to the housing, but i'm only guessing.

Boy, people must think I'm an idiot or something.... Try and put some humor in a post, and see where it gets you.

Thanks, I noticed the low beams were the outside units when I was at work as I mentioned.

jamies98lsc, I'm right here. You can ask me, instead of trying to talk behind my back. No, it's not HID.

Can't twist the bulb unit, because there appear to be little nubs that prevent it from turning when the connector is connected to the bulb. I can figure out how to turn the bulbs. I just can NOT get the connector to come off of the bulb. Which is what I am asking about.

Backstabber!:D

For future reference, I used two screwdrivers.

A large jewelers screwdriver to keep the tab released, and the other a regular flat head screwdriver which I wiggled/pushed the connector down. The bulb came out easily, but it had exploded. While I could see bits of glass in the headlight, and I could have maybe used some gum and a toothpick/chopstick/pen/pencil to get it out. But having read about the fragile nature of the reflective coating, I didn't want to be pushing something around inside of the headlight, which might disturb the coating more than the tiny bits of glass might.

Simple! Take the high beam out of the same side and take a shop vac to whichever hole is most convenient and the remaining glass shards will come right out.
