RE: Magnaflow Mufflers (Love Them)

Hey Geno.............that does look Awesome!!! I just did what my budget $$ allowed. Good luck to anyone who makes an exhuast change, most any aftermarket is going to give some increased sound and alot better flow. I do respect all of the research that you (LMS) have put into modifing these HOT-ROD Lincolns. Thanks Geno!

PS: I will be installing one of your PowerMax chips ASAP!

Thanks, Joe

Those Magnaflow mufflers look good under there with the stock tips! I think some of those may be in my future.

Geno, do you have any pics of those mufflers from a higher perspective (like what someone standing behind it might see)? All those pics are very low and I can't tell how visible those mufflers are from a normal height from behind and the side. I don't want mufflers that are too visible like some fart-canned Civic :)

ONEBADMK8:
Where do we get those mufflers/tips? What are they called and what do they cost?
Are they something we can put on ourselves with a bit of work?

I just had a full on exhaust system put in with the Magnaflow 4X9X18. 14" was too short IMO. And they fit in with no mods or cutouts in the heat shields. I got two magnaflow cats with single X and 2.5" tubing. Nice idle rumble and good growl on WOT after the mufflers warm up. When they're cold, they sound like Supertrapps or glass packs. They're not the SS nor are they chromed. No one can see them, so I didn't waste the money. Chrome is for slow cars anyway. Waste the money on power, not flash!

Abso-freakin-lutely, it made it louder! Not ungodly loud. But it has a nice cam lope at idle. And it definitely has that musclecar roar at WOT. The cats were a hair over $50 each, but that was an accident. I went to the magnaflow website and found a dealer in my area (Phoenix was the closest to me) and called them. As it turned out they are a supplier, not a retailer. But they had already quoted me their wholesale price and not their retail price. So I guilted them into offering them to me for that amount. Same for the mufflers. I paid $55 each for the mufflers and $51 each for the cats. Couldn't have gotten a much better deal. But I also have LMS headers and the single X which compliments the mufflers. Worth every penny to me.

Whatever works best for you. It's worth the wait. I had to replace mine. Two of the three cats were nearly completely clogged. And as you might already know the driver side cat is part of the manifold(not removeable) and the passenger cat is part of the pipes leading to the third cat. Total cost for parts alone was $4600(through FLM dealership). I got the whole system installed, buying the parts myself and having them put in by LMS West (unstoppable on our site), it came out to around $2500. I got pretty much 30HP to the wheels after I was done. Half the cost with a power gain. I'd say it was worth the money.
