Midrange problems...

I don't have enouph. The focal polyglass 165 5 inch midrange drivers don't have nearly enouph power. I'm looking to switch out the 5in with a set of http://www.illusionaudio.com/illusion/Driversx.html or something.

I'm taking the suggestion of what paul has said in the past about using this speaker as an 8in driver.

I'm curious as to what frequencies of sound I am going to loose by going to a 8in mid-range driver. Has anyone done this?

Paul- question for you. What are the 2 speakers you have squeezed into the tweeter area of the door?

Any suggestions from the gallery would help out.

RE: Midrange problems...

i bought the dynaudio 340 3 way component set. comes with a tweet, a 3" mid, and a 7" midbass. i say, keep your tweet and 5" for midrange and add the nd8 for midbass duties. that way u wont lose any frequencies. im not quite sure what the freq range is for the nd8. ive only heard reviews from people using it as midbass only. its got great impact and full midbass. keep using the tweet and 5" for the frequencies they are currently occupying, just cut off the 5" at around 200hz and have the nd8 take it from there (200-70hz is what ive heard recommended). i doubt youll fit the 5 and the tweet in the place ive got mine at, so youll probably have to make kickpods.
