i guess dont see how these are a bad thing

ive been part of builidng telemetry systems for solar cars it wountd take much to recored a weeks worth of infor as cheap as hardware is becomeing the raw data takes up such small space it wount not be hard to fit 1000s of these 5 secodns recodrings on a cd id like to build an accelarometer to meauser g forces as well

you can already get devices that will record that kind of data if you have kids driving the car.

I'm not a big fan of it, i guess all i can say is don't drive like an a-hole. There should definitely be some limitations, though. Electronically controlled power steering is coming out. If you record enough data with something like that, you can reconstruct the entire route of a vehicle, for however long the data was recorded. I don't think the police should be able to get that kind of information to see if you drove somewhere a week ago.

True, like most "new" technology, I think the feature may have positive uses - IF used appropriately. The problem lies in who defines what an "appropriate" use is.

I don't see a problem with parents monitoring their own property, or with law enforcement using limited data to assist in accident reconstruction. But I think (I'm not quite sure) that I might have a problem with State or Federal government using the data for non-safety-related uses.
