mufflers

I have a 97 LSC and have tinted windows, 18" tires and wheels with drilled and slotted rotors. Its a black car and really looks mean but now I need some sound for additude. Don't want to spend a fortune...as this car has true duels to start with. I heard Flowmasters are crap..does anyone out there have any input on the s/s muffs LOD sells??? Are they a "direct" replacement or do you have to modify anything? I also heard simply removing the muffs sound great....any input on this as well???
Thanks for any help. Please use my e-mail for a reply at fordguy@nni.com

just removing them sounds awsome when you romp on it when your not driving the car with the door open to listen, kinda sounds indy car ish but driving it resonates your fillings out of your head.

I had my exhaust shop get them. They were the MagnaFlow "Wide Open Performance" polished Stainless Steel mufflers with 2-1/2" inlet/outlet.

I couldn't find the reciept, but if I recall correctly, around $120 each. He doesn't mark the price up hardly at all.

i have a 93 with an exhaust thats a little rusty. the 93 has the turn down mufflers, but like i've seen a few people do, you can cut a little of the bumper to make way for bigger ones.

At the end of the winter I'm planning on doing something to make it a little throatier, I LOVE the sound of the svt cobras, i'm trying to go something in that direction, any ideas? straightpipe, magnaflows, no muffs?

just saw them off? would i have to add pipe to the part i cut off or what?

I am intrested in this question as well? Do you need to put some tips on there after you saw zaw them off or what? Would that make a difference in the sound if it is a test ( putting straight pipes back on after cutting the muffs off)?
