mufflers

Just cut (saw) the muffs off...take it out and run it to see if you like the sound. If you do, weld on some nice chrome or stainless tips and you are done. Oh yes, make sure when you cut off the existing muffs that you are able to support the ends of the pipes before you drive away!!! That foot or two isn't going to change the sound THAT much. You'll be able to tell if you like it - or not.

Yea you can ask a shop to weld or old muffs back if you don't like it and your "trial" would have cost ya $30-40... or less.

I would go that route or if you're sure I would just go to a place and ask them to put in some straight pipes in for ya... shouldn't be more than $100 which would be far less than getting decent mufflers and then paying for the work.

I just finshed my exhaust. I wanted to use my stock tips. I like how they look in the rear bummper after reading all the post about what muffler to use and not useing any. I went with the not using any idea i went to the local auto part store and spent $30 on pipe took mt exhaust off cut off the tips then the mufflers lined the pipe up cut and welded it together and pu it back on. Now I have only driven the car around the block or so but it sounds great. Took my 5hrs start to finsh I would put up pics but im imbarresed on my welding skills and my unsteady hand with the plazma cutter i wasn't to worried about small leaks and you can't see anything anyway the only thing is the tips are about an inch in then stock but its fine with me for when I wash the car Ill be able to get the under side of the intire bumper
