RE: Mufflers

I have decided to put the Magnaflow "X" muffler in place of the 3rd cat , as I am a believer in longer than stock tailpipes ..Now the question becomes is that going to be too loud. I am going to go straight pipe after that and see if its too loud,If it is I will add Mufflers at the back ...I still could use some tips , any ideas ...

RE: Mufflers

I've been running without mufflers a couple of months now. When you give it gas, it sounds off pretty good but otherwise it's pretty docile. At idle it is not even noticeable and on the freeway it's fine as well. No droning but you can definitely hear the car. The only drawback is that it is really loud when at WOT and at half gas accelerating next to some guy in a Taurus, it kinda seems like you're giving it a lot of gas because the car is a bit loud.

It sounds awesome but I'm ready for something a bit more quiet.

RE: Mufflers

Hi Kale
Are you running the muffler in place of the 3rd cat , or no mufflers at all ...I have never had so much trouble trying to decide on what to do , particularly exhaust...Guess I am getting older and not willing to have, more noise is better, now its less noise more quality is better.Do you have any good links for Tips , Oval

Geno , I love those mufflers you sell in the rear but I just cant justify the price in my own head..How about some nice tips , 2.5 pipe

David thanks again for the offer but for the moment I think I am going to wait and see after the headers are installed, I have been back and forth on this issue ,I ,don't even now what I am doing..

RE: Mufflers

I liked these tips enough to have them put on Miss Ruby. Similar to the Marauder tip, they're stainless steel from Dynomax. For mufflers I have Flowmaster 40 Series, at idle you can barely hear it, at WOT it's loud, cruising you have no problems listening to music at a normal level. On my other cMark VIII I had Dynomax Magnum Race Bullets which were loud all the time, prior to that I had staight pipes from the cats back (no third cat), a little to loud cruising--but they really sounded good at WOT, prior to that I had Borla, which sucked--a lot of money for nothing. You sound like me, everything sounds good as long as it makes noise.

RE: Mufflers

I feel your pain, this is the third time I will be doing my exhaust and at this point, I'm not very picky. Mainly because I feel it's all a waste of money if you don't do headers. I'm running an H pipe with the third cat removed and no mufflers.I really like what steve did here, with Genos help:

As far as tips, I'm just getting mine from the shop that's doing the exhaust, but I'm not picky. He has a rolled oval SS tip for $30. I once spent $160 for a pair of tips only to get bored with them and ultimately ended up thrashing them. Those were Borlas too...

The ones on our site come with the razor blade ss tips pre welded and are for the gen 2's.

Our Gen 1 muffler in the above pic is $99.00 each?

Thats right there with all the other ss mufflers?

The twin tipped mufflers we have are going to be priced down to $179.00 each.

RE: Mufflers

RE: Mufflers

Kale I see picture fine...
Geno those oval tip polished ss mufflers are $99 each ,they are not on site how come...They come with tips ? they fit 2.5 pipe ? what is the size of the muffler? ....Knowing that price ,I would rather support club vendors and members anytime , so if I decide to add mufflers at the rear I will get them from you fair enough .Thanks for the info...

RE: Mufflers

We did not recieve our large Muffler order yet so I didn't update the site at this time due to that reason.

They do not come with tips.

We have had these for years.

If you do a search on that "Other" board you will see many, many people aving about them.

IMHO they are BY FAR theeee best sounding Muffler on this car.

RE: Mufflers

Ok Geno talk to me ...
I have magnaflow "X" muffler behind trans, then straight pipes to Borolla tips...Car sounds great ,like a big block funny car and just about as load...I need mufflers !!!! I love the sound but the car is annoying to drive ....I cant believe that much noise in the car at 70MPH with pipes out the rear...I need to cut sound by 50 % Geno what size are your muffles ? they are oval i can see , I think I am going to need 5 X 8" 14 "long , 2.5 Center in / Center out ,do yours fit the bill? Do you think offset might be a little quieter because its not straight through?
