My amazing lunch

Well I left for work for lunch about 3 hours ago. I was on my yamaha at a red light and I had been there for a while. I have the bike in neutral and im sitting straight up so my back doesnt start hurting (i have a slightly bad back) im just sitting there and all of a sudden im laying on the ground and my bikes on its side in the intersection. some idiot decided either not to stop quick enough or just started going, idk i had been there for a while already. he bumped my back tire and sent me off. luckily i wear all my riding gear so im 100% ok minus the back and a knee being a bit stiff. my swingarm is bent, rim is bent, tire flattened, chain broke, body thrashed, helmet will need to be replaced because my head hit the ground, engine casings all torn up and one leaking oil. lord knows what else is wrong. thank god he wasnt flying or i would have been toast for sure. i still have no idea wtf happened but i got all the witnesses in the world to prove my story. well im going to get as much as i can out of him and hopefully get another bike and some new gear.

now im back at work waiting for a ride to come pick me up and take me and my bike home and wait for the insurace people.

Damn that sucks, glad to hear your ok. People just seem to keep getting dumber on the roads these days.

Thank goodness you wear all your gear.

Swear to G_d, I was just talking to my son while this was open about him buying a motorcycle and telling him not to get one cause no matter how careful he is, most accidents with bikes are caused by other drivers.

Well, I hope it all turns out well for you.

That's not true where I live. We have lots of single vehicle deaths and injuries because of people doing stupid thing on there vehicles.

It is true you have to be on the lookout for bad drivers ALL THE TIME, because no matter who's fault it is the person on the cycle loses.

According to statistics almost 80% of motorcycle accidents are caused due to other drivers.... up on HWY 9 and 35 though bikers tend to race for the clock and end up in the trees/off a cliff.

i think everything will go ok. although i may be only 21 and on a crotch rocket, i still hate idiot bike riders who do stupid crap. people say i ride it like an old man would...lol i got it because im saving 300 a month on gas vs. the mark and its a really awesome experience riding on a bike and feeling the curves and the road. it really is amazing to me.

i do notice alot more on the road as well having been riding for a while and im a much more cautious car driver as well because i understand where to look and what to look for.

if i had a voice in the matter i would make a motorcycle safety course a mandatory part of drivers education.

yep, they call them The Century Club. They have to average 100mph between Hwy9 and Woodside rd along Hyw 35. Most of it I believe is posted at 50mph.

And as in my friends case he was hit head on by a motorcycle. The guy died, no insurance and no family.

That's nothing.

There's this 12-13 mile mountain road in Europe where these bikers run it in less than 5 minutes. That's around 150mph. Of course they are all riding Dukati's and what not. There's a video of a guy doing the entire thing on youtube. I wonder what the guy that was filming him from behind was driving...

Lots of bikes in California. I always make space for bikes on the road and am aware with the gas prices rising that more and more are on the road.

same thing happened to me back in 93.
Sitting at a traffic light, with my blicker on, waiting for traffic to clear so I could "turn right on red"...

All I remember is "blink, blink, blink, KERBLAM....then the sound of locked up brakes as I was knocked 160 feet from the P.O.I {point of impact)

the girl didn't hit the brakes until AFTER she had hit me, she was "running the red, and turning right" without stopping.
She was too busy looking "left" to see if traffic was coming on the side street to NOTICE that I was "stopped" at the light waiting for traffic to clear.

it knocked me "THRU" two lanes of moving traffic... I remember seeing an "antenna ball" out of my perifial vision as I thought to myself.. "THIS IS GONNA HURT".

She hit me so hard, as I lay there on the street.. I "couldn't see"...and I could hear cars moving past/around me... again, I thought to myself.. THIS IS BAD.

Then I realized that "I wasn't blind", I was merely laying FLAT ON MY BACK...looking at the night time sky.

Needless to say.. "THAT HURT".

I'm sorry you met the same fate as I.... St00pid CAR DRIVERS.

The force of the impact drove the swingarm into the engine case..and there was only 8 inches between the front and back tire.

RIP my little CBR, you served me well.

It's "ALWAYS" the other drivers/cars.

I put 10,000 miles on my bike before that Illegal Alien "took me out".

I never even had a chance to "fall down" on my own.

I got hit twice in 10K.. once by a drunk driving female on the galveston causeway...the second by an illegal alien who also happened to be a female.. on her way to "the valley" for Xmas.
Webster PD gave her a FREE FLIGHT HOME for Xmas....and she was back in the states before new years eve.

Of course...who would post a thread stating "...so I ran a red and creamed this guy on a motorcycle..."?

well it's probably posted on some "spanish speaking" message board someplace.

something like holiamigohombre I chinglaed some gringo's motoceeecle

haha well the bike is totalled...like i didnt see that coming. i really want to find another yzf600r. because it still is a sport bike but its not as rough as an r6. has more comfy seat, sofeter suspension, more like a touring bike that looks like a crotch rocket. if i cannot find another one of those then ill make do with an r6. :)

Oh the HORROR...(LMAO)

I like the new "yamahaulers", and I'm a dyed in the wool "red rider" {no wing, no prayer)

I had to accept reality in my case and give up the bike, there were just far too many no driving idiots in CARS on the road for a bike to be considered a "survivable" mode of transportation.

I am a very defensive driver and was the same on the bike...but I had to face the facts that in todays world, there just "isn't room" for a motorcycle to be safely operated on public roads.

Car drivers simply "dont see" motorcycles.

I feel that NO driver should be given a 4000LB car or a 5000LB truck when tney are 16 years old.

EVERY driver should have to start their driving career on a 100cc or less motorcycle.

1. that would make ALL drivers motocycle aware..as they would have "done their time" dodging cars.
2. would eliminate MANY stupid drivers before they ever got behind the wheel of a 4000LB car.

I would love to "be in the wind" today, but my responsibilty to my son and family far outweigh any "economic" reason to buy a bike and far far far outweigh my enjoyment of "being in the wind".

Be safe out there.. ride smart and remember.. EVERY CAR OUT THERE IS TRYING TO KILL YOU.

i kantspel too!!!!

im well aware that everyone is trying to kill me, ive had some close calls. one person in the oncoming lane went to cross the dotted yellow to pass another car and i was right there. i see a dang toaho looking at me in the face. its like he just looked right on past me. why dont people see things? i flashed my high beam and he slammed on the binders and got back behind the slower car. i was pretty much stopped by then though.
