My Mark is gone...for a couple of days

I dropped off my Mark this morning at the dealer to have some paint work done on the front bumper. They said it'll probably take three days, so until then I'm stuck with a rental.

It's a 2003 Jetta. It's "nice" because it's pretty new, but I'm once again reminded why I don't like 4-cylinders or front-wheel drive. I don't know what size the engine is, but it must be the cheapest one because there's no badging on the trunk (no 1.8T or VR6) and it's ridiculous slow. I think you could measure its 0-60mph time with a calender. And the HVAC system has "only" four fan speeds. And the stereo's bass response is ass - not that the JBL in the Mark is the best thing, but why do people think "loud and boomy" equals good base? And when I turned the car off when I got to work, I was waiting for the easy entry to move the wheel and seat (I did stop waiting after a second though ;) ).

Not that there's anything really wrong with the Jetta, it's just amazing how much the Mark has spoiled me. I already want it back. I'll never be able to own a lesser car ever again. (What I really don't see is how people will pay more than $20k for a new Jetta.)

What dealership is it at? Maybe I'll go by and check up on it for you. I'm not doing anything tomorrow :p

It's at Dave Sinclair L-M South (on Lindbergh just north of I-55). I've heard their body shop is top-notch. I hope so, I'm certainly paying for it :) I do know their service department is good.

What is wrong with FWD?
2003 Jettas are pretty nice cars. The regular model is a 16,700$ car with the automatic it's 17,500 or so (i believe its some lousy 115hp). Sub 20k can't really compare to a 40k+ car 5 years ago which would be over 50k in todays money. hehe Take a look at the top end passats they are really nice cars. Or more likely take a look at top end A6 Audis because they would compare to the mark pricewise.

What's wrong with FWD? It's just my opinion that it's crap ;) I prefer the feel of RWD or AWD.

I checked, the Jetta I'm driving has the 2.0L 115hp engine. Barf. (I think my friend's Hyundai could give this thing a run for its money.) And I think the tranny is already on its way out (and no I'm not driving the piss out of it ;) ). German engineering my ass :D

I know it's not reasonable to compare a base model VW to a top-of-the-line (when new) Lincoln, I was just venting because I miss my car. I will say that, after driving it for a few days, the Jetta is "nice," nothing special though. But I don't think it's $17k nice, IMO that's too much money for not enough car. And after looking at the MSRPs, I think the same thing for the whole VW/Audi line.
