Anyone have any thoughts on what might cause the air ride comressor to run constantly even with ignition key off and locked ?

bad relay?

Is the car jacking up? Does it sag down overnight? Do you hear hissing any place air might be escaping?

The height was OK front and rear. The compressor just ran constantly.

I parked it a couple days ago and all was fine. Came out this morning and the battery was dead. Jumped it to start. That's when I found the compressor ran constantly. Let it run while I put up this posting this morning. When I went back out, the compressor is now off and won't come on at all and I now have a "check suspension" light. Checked all the fuses and the Air ride on/off switch makes no difference. Do you think maybe the relay is bad ?

Call Eddie at American Air Suspension. He should be able to help you with the diagnosis more than I can.

But if the height is okay, it could be front shocks, a leak in a line, or more likely the compressor relay. If there's a leak somewhere, the compressor would run and you'd get a check suspension light, but if it's set up like the mark, it would shut off after 90 seconds, not kill your battery.

Turned out be the relay. All 4 pins were shorted together, so not only did it feed 12V to the compressor constantly, it also fed 12V back to the control circuit. The reason the compressor eventually shut off was due to corrosion on the 12V feed pin in the relay connector.

Cleaned the connector and greased it up with white lithium spray. Installed the new relay ($85 even with a 20% discount) and all is fine.

The troubleshooting guide at American Air Auspension http://www.americanairsuspension.com/index.htm was a great help.

Woohoo! I was right!

Glad you got if fixed up. $85 isn't bad at all for any automotive repair, honestly.
