I got tired of seeing those horrible clear-coat fade splotches on my rear A pillars, so I decided to try to do a little shadetree repainting.
I cleaned the areas to be painted, wetsanded them, and then sprayed 2 coats of black and 2 coats of clearcoat. I even got the factory orange peel finish.
I bought some superfine (P800) sandpaper, Meguiar's fine cut rubbing compound, and Meguiar's #9 swirl remover. And I have no idea what to do next to get the repainted sections to match the rest of the car.
Keep in mind that I'm not looking for a show-quality finish - I just want the paint to blend in and be fairly uniform with the rest of the car.
Can someone give me the basics, here?
Thanks!
