New Exhaust

I had my 3rd cat (x cat) and both mufflers cut out. Where the 3rd cat was there is now a 50 series SUV dual in - dual out Flowmaster muffler. there is straight 2.25" pipe where the oem mufflers were. I kept my OEM tips (they had to be cut and welded on the new pipes). Cost was approx $85 for the Flowmaster + $69 for the work at a local exhaust shop (bad boy muffler center). Sound quality is very good (low "burble") at low (under 2K) rpm's. At higher RPM's it really isnt much louder than the OEM setup - just a bit lower (more manly) tone. It is much quieter than other Marks with aftermarket exhausts I have heard. I think the fact that there is alot of pipe behind the muffler makes it quieter. I have pics but they are over 1 meg ea - and I'm not sure about how to resize. If I can email them to someone that would be great...............Cal

RE: New Exhaust

Nice set up indeed.
Now, is that CD player hooked up to a factory changer? I'd like to have a set up like that instead of my cassette/cd changer set up.

RE: New Exhaust

No, the CD player/head unit has no external CD changer, nor does it have the ability to control one. The tape decks are the only one with changer controls as far as I know. When the car was about 3 years old - the OEM CD player crapped out and was replaced under warrantee with a new one. The car has been unbelievably reliable since the warrantee expired in Dec 2000.

RE: New Exhaust

Thanks for the info on the cd player.
Are those mufflers stainless steel? I was thinking of replacing my stocks with something shiny. Would look good on my black car I think.

RE: New Exhaust

I'm not 100% sure - but I thing the Flow's are NOT stainless. They are some aluminum alloy I think.
