Proud owner of 98 base. Needs some TLC. Just did a brake booster and that was a lot of fun but brakes are pretty high on my standards. After studying a lil my car has a sct badge on the back. How do I know if some has put in a tune and if it is still working? Owner was an older woman who said she bought from an old man original owner. Has the intake box swapped to kn cold air and the 3rd cat and resignater removed. Passed inspection so it will be here for a while. Cars name is Kiki my fiancee loving name. She had it in here head that it was a mercury marquis she isn't a car girl but lets me do pretty much anything I need to so.... Anyway hope to learn from other mistakes and help were I can!

Welcome. It may be hard to tell if the ECU has been tuned, detecting ECU remapping can be difficult, as the information stored in the ECU can only be accessed by the manufacturer. Someone who has does tuning here can chime in, SCT may have stored a value in the ECU memory that indicates their tune. Some older tunes use a chip plugged in the OBDII port under the steering wheel. You can check there.

Welcome! 👋

SCT tuning software has a 'compare' function which will compare the custom tune with a stock tune but you would need the tuning device, either a chip or flash tune device, to 'return the vehicle to stock' to be able to access the tune file.

Tell your fiancé Mercury Marquis was a four door sedan.
