Well guy's and ladies my factory JBL has no sound the radio and cd changer appear to be working acording to the display I just wonder if there is a fuse for the amp is it going bad :(

RE: no sound

Fuses 16 & 17(both 10 amp) are for the radio and changer. Under the hood, check the 20A fuse labeled(PR SND/CELL PH).

You may want to check the connections at the amp.

dam I hope not Id hate to replace the sound system, dam eight speakers. My Airstream needs a new sound system first after all it is 26 yrs old but it still works a little

RE: no sound

I may have a JBL amp available later this week. I have also seen them for auction fairly cheap.

RE: no sound

I am having this same problem, but wait it gets worse... My antennae will go up and the sound goes off, I've had this happen a bunch of times. My kids and I joke that if the sound goes off we automatically look to see if the antennae is up and it always is . Then if you have sound , the antennae is down. Weird, but I can a clicking noise inside the dash on the passenger side. Anyone have any ideas. It's got a mind of it's own and I swear it's possessed or something. I went without tunes for 3 weeks a few months ago and was looking into getting a new stereo, when it decided to start playing again. It doesn't matter if I am using a CD or radio. The display acts like I should be hearing music. I have a 94 Mark VIII

RE: no sound

I am having a similar problem. None of the speakers in my Mark make any noise. I also thought I was dealing with a dying/dead amp, and just wanted to bypass it. After wracking my brain on a good way to go about doin that, I went to the stereo store. So I bought an amplifier bypass cable to hook to two large clips that go into the amp together, and a harness to wire up an aftermarket cd player. So I put the bypass cable between the clips and wire up the new cd player only to turn on the key and see the cd player light up and play a cd without as much as a beep. I called an installer buddy of mine and he said to get a multimeter and check the impedence on all of the speakers because with the JBL system having the amp in the trunk and power of the cd player if you have one bad speaker, everything else shuts off. So with that being the case, I really need to know the best way to get to all of the speakers to check them with the meter. Can I do it in the trunk with one of the harnesses? Let me know what you think, and maybe you can help me out? Talk to you all later.

Nate
