my friggin head is on fire. i let my nice beautiful bald skull out for a walk around Daytona International Speedway yesterday for a swap meet and car show for about 6 hours. no hat, no sun screen, all sun :eek:
it was really stupid of me but the whole time it felt fine, walked around looking for parts, 2 of my buddies went to looking for things, we checked out some killer cars for sale, and ate some real good track food lol. and then got back in the truck to come home and OH MY GOD my head felt so tender and southern deep fried. my head is gonna feel like leather in a few years if i dont start covering it a little down here, maybe i'll get a doo-rag lmao , or not. pointless thread but i thought i would share my pain it really does hurt bad, i think my ears will actually blister they are like pork rinds.

Drats, can't find the right smilie - we need pics!

Jaime, wear a cool LOD cap. Even if you aren't bald you can still sunburn, but I'd imagine a whole head of sunburn sucks. :(

Its probably too late, but the best solution for a burn is a cold shower. Start out at a temp you can tolerate fine, then over 20 minutes turn it down a little bit every minute. The longer you can shower, the better. You need to get the heat out, its just like any other burn. Once thats done put aloe vera gel on.

If you do this you usually wont peel and by the second day you may not even know you have a burn.

when i got home i jumped in the pool, but even 84 degree water felt freezing because i was so hot. so i got in the shower and did do that, slowly cooled the water every minute or so, i slept ok, but once i woke up this morning it hurt. i shave my head with a razor twice a week, so with the stubble on my head whenever something touched it now it feels like pins and needles. i have burnt my head many times but each time it hurts and sucks bad. this one is no exception. i'm gonna pick up some aloe gel or cream tonight and see if it helps. i dont mind peeling, but when its my head and ears it looks gross out in public, like i have some kind of skin disease lol. and no i am not naked in the pic i had shorts on sicko's lmao!!
and yes my back is already tan, i am not pale obviously i live in florida i am never white anymore, so just imagine how red the red really is on tan skin.

HAHA

P.S. column reached the shipping point today.
I just have to go pick it up now....THANKS JAMIE!

You are gonna have to wearing one of those big Panama hats like Jack Rousch does. Most doctors will tell you that it's not good to keep cooking your big sex orgin continually.

I ended up with a lot of pre-cancerous bumps and I have to keep going to a dermotologist and having her spray my head with liquid nitrogen!!! Cover your head while you are young!!!!

Add some pineapple, allspice baste with honey and you have a good looking ham. HEHE

Jokes aside I got 2nd degree sunburn 7 years ago and now I had to have a pre-melanoma remove back in October and I have to get checked every year now and im only 35. DONT mess around with that.

i used to live in ball caps when i was younger but once i got around my late teens early 20's i stopped wearing them and started shaving bald and now i cannot stand the feeling of a hat on my head i hate it otherwise i would wear them still and protect my sex machine solar panel a little better!!!

Alot of my "sun worshiping" friends are having portions of their ears removed due to melanoma's...be careful!!!

seems that the ears are often overlooked when it comes to protecting them from the sun.

Tanning = no cancer

Burning = cancer

SunScreen may not be a great chemical to apply to the skin, but the potential results from burning are a greater price.

And remember the SPF rating is NOT the strength. An SPF 55 is no "stronger" than an SPF 2. Its the multiplier of time that the sunscreen works. Average unprotected skin can start the burn in 5 minutes or less. Thus an SPF 8 sill protect an untanned person for 40 minutes. A tanned person for longer. I hear to often: "I put on an SPF 35 and STILL burned."
