Original Michelin model on '93 Mark

Which model Michelin tire came on the 1993 Mark? I think it was the MXV4 but am not sure. I have tried to find this information in the tire forum but have had no luck.
Also were Goodyear tires original equipment on the 1993 Mark and if so what model was used?
I will probably get Michelins but would like to research the Goodyears.

Thanks,

I don't know what exactly was OE, but i do know they suck. The stock size is 225/60/16, a lot of people use 245/50/16's. There are many tires you can find that are both cheaper and better than the stock tires.

I had Michelin on mine 97 LSC but they were not the Michelin MXV4 Energy.

One thing to keep in mind, you can no longer get the same tires that originally came on the Mark VIII's as they are no longer produced. The rubber that they used on the tires that came on the Mark VIII was a little stickier than what you would be able to purchase today in the same tire. I did some research into this when I purchased tires for my car in 2003.

When I bought my 95 in May of 97, it had 38k miles on it. The tires had about 1/3 of the tread left. I assumed they were not the original tires until they lasted to 58k. They still had tread above the wear indicators but were hydropaning bad enough that I replaced them. So, I decided they were the original equipment tires. They were Michelin MXV4's and had a 44 psig maximum pressure. I replaced them with MXV4's that I thought would be the same tires. NOT! The new tires are the green tires with a maximum pressure rating of 35 psig. Both sets were V speed rated. Now, the car has 96k miles on it and they still have about 1/2 of the tread left. Incredible!

I also remember Jerry W talking about Ford removing the Good Years and replacing them with Michelins to get rid of vibration problems with this car!

Thanks for the first hand information regarding your original Michelin MXV4 tires and the replacemt Michelins that you bought. Tread life seems to be very good with one half remaining after nearly forty thousand miles.
My Mark has 28, 500 miles on it and I would assume the second set of tires since they are Big O brand. The first owner had them istalled sometime before he sold the car with only 19,000 miles on it. The two rear tires are down to 3/32, the front two are noticably better. I think the original tires should have lasted many more miles unless they were dry rotted. I will buy Michelin MXV4 V rated tires soon.

Thank you,

I didn't think I was driving all that easy, but maybe I am. I celebrated my 61st birthday last week, so I am an old fart whether I want to admit it or not. I never ever got that kind of mileage out of my tires before the Mark and the F150. Of course, a lot of my miles are road miles cruising at a steady speed. My original Good Year Wrangler RTS tires on the truck lasted until 77k when I replaced two of them because the sidewalls were cracked severely. I replaced the second pair last fall because the WI winter was coming on at 92k miles!

About the only time I step on the Mark is in first gear to feel the power! I have done this many times, but it doesn't seem to wear the tires that much. I have only had the Mark over 100mph one time. I ran it up to 120. This was several years ago and the driveshaft drone was getting bad. I need a new driveshaft to be able to run over 80 without the vibration from the crappy original driveshaft.
