Ok, I have a HP which is old, and I hate it, and I'm sure this comes as a surprise to some people... lol

Anyway, I keep getting this usyibuam4.exe process that is always running, sometimes like 10 of them. I try to kill them and there is always at least one running. I just got over some stupid virus so, I'm still deleting parts of it I guess...

Any help would be great!

Click on "Run..." and type in "msconfig".

Look for that pesky program under the "startup" and "services" tabs. When you find it, uncheck the box so that Windows knows not to run it when it starts up. This should solve the issue.

I second this option. If you still have problems make sure you are running a good updated Antivirus program (AVG is a "decent" free one if you need one). In addition try running one or more anti-malware programs like spybot search and destory, ad-aware, Malwarebytes.

If those options don't work, hope you have your windows CD nearby. :)

Good luck!

When downloading an anti-virus program, watch out for the evil twins. These are Viruses disguised as virus killers. My sister-in-law lost her computer last week to an evil SpyBot 2009 twin. The file name is exactly the same, so you have to download from a trusted source.

Microsoft also has a free malicious software removal tool that is updated every month and that you can download from the site.

If that doesn't work, reinstall Windows like they said above. It is easier than it used to be and saves you the $99 of having a "Geek Squad" guy do it for you...and you really have nothing to lose at this point. Just backup everything in your "My Documents" folder just in case.

I didn't post that to talk about which is cheaper, just that a good Mac does not cost 3 grand.

Which Windows OS is on that cheap PC and what software is on it?

Vista Home and any of the numerous free open source home office software suites out there.

While the king of desktops may be a never-ending discussion, the fact that dollar-for-dollar PCs rule Macs has always existed and not ever really been questioned.

The other thing that made the Win/PC strong in business is its backwards compatibility.

Not when you factor in driver updates, reinstalling software, Windows updates (an hour by themselves!), etc.

2-3 hours for the typical home computer.
stuff you can at least walk away from, vista doesn't nee you to install it

Ok, first thanks for the help... :D

Second, I have a Mac... a really nice one...

Ok, now my HP, I've wiped a bunch of stuff off it, but I still have 3 things that always start up, even if I go into the system whatever place and turn everything off, those 3 files are always running, and one of them is blocking access to the task manager, so I can't kill the processes.

I have ad-aware which has also cleaned a bunch of stuff, and every time I run it it finds the same things, tells me that they are deleted, and then when I restart the machine they are back...

So any additional help would be great. BTW, this machine was from an old job, so I have none of the CDs that came with it.

The last nasty adware I had required several passes of SpyBot to get rid of it. It had to be OFF the net as well. Usually you can physically unplug the network cable or turn off the wifi. Rebooting and letting Spybot run immediately was required to end the replication of the bug.

The viruses today are self resurrecting, you can't just kill them. You have to go into start up mode and makes sure restore point is off, etc... They are a real PITA to get rid of, that is why it is sometimes best to just back up your data, reformat then reinstall. Some PC don't come with the back-up CDs but they have a program that will make them for you, see if you have that. I had to do that with the wifes laptop.

As it IS an HP, they usually have the HD formated so that there is a copy of the recover disk already on the "D" drive of the system. On boot-up, select "RECOVER".
