People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

I just got back home from the Hallmark store with the kiddos doin' the Mother's Day thing, and I found another dimple on my passenger door. x( This time it had a 6" section of white paint nestled nicely with the dimple. (worst one yet) My car is starting to look like a someone with a bad case of cellulite!!!!!

Why are people so careless and do crap like that? I have been dealing with this constantly for the last several months at night school. I try to park in spaces that are next to nice cars or trucks, but there's just no tellin'. I can't park anywhere but designated student parking, or I will get ticketed. So I guess I gotta take my chances. I realize we all deal with this and try to park out away from others, but every now and then, BAM!

I wish I had seen it before I left the store but I didn't. Oh well, I guess it's time to call the Jaz-Dent guy. I noticed some of y'all have had good luck with the dent-removal vendors. I hope our guy down here is just as good. I will call my buddy at the Ford dealer and see if he knows someone.

I just had to vent!

It is especially annoying because we have to take so much extra care not to hit people with our huge doors.

Always go with the one that the dealer uses!!!

You don't wanna know how many new cars come in off the delivery truck dented! The dents have to be removed perfectly, so that the customer can never see it! The body shop means repaint and repaints can be told! So, at any and all cost dealers plead with and find (by word of mouth, from other dealers) the best of the best people in that field, and then depend on them like a hot dog depends on mustard! The guys who advertise are the poorer ones!!! The dealer guys have more work than they can handle!!!!! My guy puts in 12 hour days and services over 35 dealers, visiting each one once a week, usually hitting 7 dealers a day! Dealers pay $75.00 a dent, retail public pays $125.00 with the extra $50.00 going in the dealer's pocket. Sometimes if you have two dents that are close to one & other they'll do the 2 for the price of one. Whatever....they are worth every penny when the alternative is the body shop & paint booth.

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

I assume cars still come by rail also. I remember when they were in open air cars and if they got to their destination without damage from kids throwing stuff off bridges, they were lucky. I think they went to enclosed cars for that reason.

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

They still come to San Antonio by rail. There's even a special yard that handles just car transports. I remember as a kid watching trains loaded with cars going by. It always seemed as though they might jump off the train because they swayed back & forth on their suspension so much due to the movement of the train. That was probably when my love affair with cars began, because you could see so many different models in such a short period.

Dean, sorry to hear about the damage my friend.

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

When the side of your car ends up looking like the results of too many ice cream cones what do you do. If the dent removers charge 150 per dent then I have 5000.00$ worth of dents. :(

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

Might just be cheaper to replace the whole door!

But seriously, I had 100+ dents in my car from hail, $1200 all gone. Driver-side fender, door, quarter, trunk, roof.

No one can tell. It helps immensely that the hood is fiberglass so has no chance for hail damage (unless it's softball sized, then I reckon it could crack).

Highly recommend PDR.

What hood is made of fiberglass? The Mark VIII hood is made of aluminum. I had a hand-dent removed by a professional dent doctor who found it curious that the metal wouldn't act normally. After a few minutes, he asked me, "Is this hood made of aluminum?" "No wonder..."

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

Once again, why Gen1s rule and Gen2s get dents in their hoods (which hide a weak intake)

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

and once again...if you care that much, park away from the other riff-raff and walk a few extra steps. i try to park as far away from ANYTHING that might come close to the mark, other vehicles, shopping carts, kids, birds, dust...you get the idea. don't be lazy, walk a bit more when you park. you'll be glad you did. :D

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

To paraphrase: you can park out in the sticks, but you can't hide.

If you park as far out as you can, all by yourself, some clown will go out of his way to park next to you.

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

That's exactly what happens to me. When I take my son to the mall, I can park at the extreme end of the parking lot, and with hundreds of empty slots all around, some idiot has to park right next to me.

RE: People ar sooooooooo careless!!!

Wow, Dean, I hear ya, but I don't feel for ya. Actually, I do. I remember one of my Marks parked on the highway at night with the headlights of a car directly behind it. I swear, if a saw 10 dings, I saw a thousand. The car was riddled with them. During the day you couldn't see any but at night, at that exact angle, every door that was ever opened was on the side of that car. But the car still looks great! if you can believe that. Try it, take a look at your car at night with the headlights from behind, in the rain. It will horrify you.
