precautions for storing the car over the winter

I was planning on putting the Mark away for the winter, but was curious about any precautions I should take for letting the car sit that long? I will be able to start the car at least once a week, also I will make sure it gets an oil change also. But what I was curious about is the tire. Does anyone think that the tires will develope flat spots from sitting? If anyone has any other precautions I should consider I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Carlo

Does anyone think I will have trouble with flat spots on the tires from sitting? I have new wheels and tires on the car and I am worried about the tires becoming out of shape. Doesn't anyone store any of their car's for long periods of time here? Or should I put the car on blocks?

Thanks,

Carlo

I would put it on jack stands just in case. I stored my car last winter and the winter before, but last winter i was working on it so it wasn't on the wheels anyway, and the year before, everytime the roads dried off i took it for a spin.

What did you drive in the winter?? I am thinking of storing the LS but having a hard time finding something decent to drive

This year i have a '91 Suburban for the winter. Last year it was a '93 Blazer. The year before it was a '78 Chevy with a 6" lift and 35" tires.

I haven't had any problems with flat spots after storing my car for 5 months during the winter. Make sure you put Stabil in the gas. I always take out the battery and put it on a battery charger.

Thanks for the input. I have been thinking it over and I think I might just keep my silver directionals and put those on for the winter rather than sell them. I have a 2003 Taurus that I drive for work so I would rather keep the Mark out of the salt and snow for the winter.

Thanks,

Carlo

Radials are fine over the winter....the old bias ply tires would get flat spots after a few months, but you'll be fine. I pull the battery out of mine, put some Stabil in the gas tank, and its good to go for 5-6 months. I have to store 3 cars for the winter, so I've gotten good at this..lol.
