Since I bought the Evergreen, the Neon hasn't worked. Common issue right...new ballast or neon blah blah blah. The other day I was thinking, "Man, it'd be nice if my truck lock popper worked...." Then I got to thinking, shoot....my trunk light doesn't work either! Maybe...just maybe, the trunk hinge wiring is messed up and it's all tied in together (neon and trunk popper ON the trunk lid using same wiring).
So....11 months later....I pop the trunk, with the key
)), and peek by the hinge. WTF?!
If you look at this picture, the wiring was basically being guillotined by the metal bracket AND was being smashed by the little bump stop on the hinge!!!
Did a ghetto rig and whalla!
Neon works BUT when I hit the brakes or start the car, the Neon goes out.....I'm assuming the ballast is failing? When the car is running AFTER it turns off, I step on the brake and the entire neon flashes for a split second and goes back off. I unplugged it so it doesn't do any damage to it. Seems like too much power and the ballast turns off or fails?
