Rear window truck moulding mod (cross posted)

Someone on another forum came up with this idea. I've been desperate for something to make my window look better (Its the worst part of my car, in my opinion) so I went for it.

I wish I hadn't. I don't like it at all.

The mod consists of some truck door edge moulding commonly available at PepBoys (and other places I imagine. Its the V shaped rubber stuff that you run along the edge of your door. It has glue at the base of the channel.

I guess it would be ok if I hadn't bought my car some time ago and remember how it looked originally, but for me, its not OK.

It looks bulky and ungainly.

Also, I found that the material that was flailing around while I was trying to fit it scratched the living hell out of my C pillar. I can't even puff it out. If you have a black car, watch out for that. The paint looks horrible now.

Anyway, for those of you curious, here are some pictures. 1600x1200 images available at http://images.spmiller.org/markviii/windowtrim

All are after shots, ya'll have seen what it looks like "before"

Maybe it is, but I can't lift the gaskets at the corners, they are hard as a rock and fixed. Maybe if they deteriorate more, I would be able to.
