Red whore back to the track & white car ready too!

I have the dry shot back on the red whore. Looking to better my 12.6 with the 125 shot and dip into the 11's with a 175shot. Stock engine with less goodies than before but with a convertor and 10.5" slicks should do the job.
White car gets dyno'd on sunday as well. Hopefully we will get some times down soon. The first time out we should put that car into the 9.9-10.1 range if the IRS holds togeather.

RE: Red whore back to the track & white car ready too!

Red whore ran a 12.9 @ 106.7 with a 125 shot. This engine is not as strong as the engine that was in the car before. It is down 2mph n/.a and 4mph on Nitrous. Car only runs a 13.9 @ 99.4 n/a. The convertor seems stockish as well. It is supposed to be a 3000 stall. Hmmm.

The race shop did not have any 175 or 200shot jets for the car so no big numbers this time... I am headed up to detroit Wed so I will stop by jegs in Columbus and pick up the jets I need. I also have to get some hardened studs in the car so I can put the slicks on it. Getting out of the hole with the n20 was tough. I had to roll out 10-15ft then spray to get a decent time.

The white car was tuned-kinda. The engine has to come out and I need to take the cams out. If anyone has a set of cam tools that I can borrow for 2 weeks I would REALLY appreciate it.

Hmmm... is it just me, or does going from 13.9 @ 99.4 to 12.9 @ 106.7 seem to be a bit low for a 125 shot? Maybe that's partly due to the converter?? ::uh::

I dropped a second off the car last time I sprayed a 125. (13.7-9 n/a to a 12.6-8) As always the ET would have dropped if I had slicks or went to a decent track.
Remember a 125 NOS shot is rated at 125 flywheel HP, which is roughly 100-110rwhp though the slushbox.

JP--FYI Looking at some time slips from years ago, my car would always trap 80+ in the 1/8 compared to 79.X in Eli's car n/a. But he always ran a quicker ET and .1-2mph faster than me running side by side. I miss that old engine...

OK, you qualified the results. I had totally forgotten the NOS HP was flywheel HP.

Hypothetically, what ET improvement could be expected with a conservative 75 shot? Would you presume 60-65 RWHP?

Yes. I gained a .6 or so seconds with an 80 shot. you can get these kits for $400 and knock off a full second off of your time. Something you might look into.

I think a conservative shot is 125 on this engine. 175 is a good shot. After that you have to go wet and you do not want to do that on this intake. The fuel puddles to easily.

I know for a fact the stock Mark VIII engines hold up to a 250 shot. I know a couple of people running 250's repeatedly at the track. But if you have slicks you will break a halfshaft spraying that hard off the line. As long as you have a fresh tranny, preferably upgraded with more clutches, there is nothing to worry about.

I run up to a 135 shot without taking timing out. A little high, but it works. FYI the timing rule of thumb for N20 is .5 degrees of timing for ever 50hp of nitrous. So 2degrees for a 200shot.
