removing exterior window surround trim on Town Car

I've got a 2000 Town Car that was smacked in the driver's door. I've found a replacement door but I can't figure out how to remove the chrome trim that surrounds the mirror mounting and upper part of the window. I've removed the mirror and taken out the three screws that hold on the mirror surround piece but it is still attached at the upper corner to the chrome strip around the window. I see no other accessible attaching hardware. Pulling on it seems to do no good as it only bends the chrome strip. The chrome strip on my crashed door is still good so I can use it if I can figure out how to get it off.

Well it took a bit of tinkering, but I figured out how to get the trim off. There are two bolts holding the window channel to the bottom of the door frame. If you have the window rolled down and remove these two bolts you can pry the window channel away from the door frame and manuever the channel out of the door. This exposes the screws that hold the trim on. I feared that I would have to drill out the rivets that hold the window in its bracket, but that turned out to be unnecesssary. The glass can stay in place.

Welcome! :)

Sorry we couldn't help you, but glad you got it figured out! :wink2-green
