Road trip complete

crash

I picked up my new Mark VIII over the weekend. I wondered to myself, Is there any other car that I would buy that is 15+ years old and drive it across the country with only the spare and the jack in the trunk? About the only other car I could think of would be a mid 90s S class or E class Mercedes.

After 1746 miles from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Rosemount, MN, I found out a couple of things about the car. The trip was completely trouble free, traveling 300 miles on Friday, 650 miles on Saturday and 800 on Sunday. I stopped at the Aviation museum in Georgia, and the Corvette museum. I almost cried seeing those irreplaceable vettes that were damaged by the sinkhole.

Here are some things that need to be fixed:
It pulls to the right under braking. Not sure if it is the brakes or the suspension.
The blend door actuator needs to be fixed.
Needs a new door handle gasket around the driver side door handle
Some trim pieces are a little worn such as the cup for the drivers side door handle. It must have been a female owner with long fingernails.
This car had the phone, so I want to replace the A piller with a normal one.
One of the cup holder is broken.
Although the paint is pretty good, it needs some clay bar and Zaino love.
The air compressor seems to be louder than I remember.
The rear window molding is wrinkled, like many mark 8's are.

Modifications:
Remote start
I'll have to see what options there are for better brakes with stock wheels
Deep sump tranny pan
J-Mod to the valve body
Limited slip diff (for better winter traction)
Blizzaks on the 10 spoke directional wheels. I'll use my octastars for summer tires.
