Has anyone added satellite radio to their 97 Mark * yet? I really wish to do this, but have not been able to decide what exactly to do.

Here is the question:

Adding just satellite to Stock Premium Sound system

VS.

Get a new unit with satellite already built in
(and what about the cd changer?)

What are your thoughts????

BTW, I prefer Sirius programming to XM.

I ADDED my XM receiver to my stock system. I used the mounting kit that came with the Roady. So long as you CLEAN the heck out of the mounting area, it'll stick fine. Follow direction to the letter! It's been over 100 here the past few days and it hasn't fallen off yet. Knowing it's gotta be 120 or higher inside the car while parked!
I only wish the stock system had a place to plug in the Roady directly into an input. I do that in the Dodge Charger the boos bought me for a business car...works great, esp here on east coast where there are few available FM frequencies that don't cause problems with reception. Driving from Baltimore to Albany, NY requires me to change FM stations 3 times.

So, if you live in a crowded bandwidth area, you'll prob. like a new radio with whichever Sat System you want.

I've seen a few companies selling line-in adapters for factory stereos. I'd been eyeing up one made by blitz safe that claims to still allow use of the factory changer as well. the "FORD/AUX DMX V.1B OEM" but I've only found it for sale at one site on-line, who says it's discontinued. I have a couple friends who have tried similar devices in a volvo and VW, and they sound quite good. far better than RF modulated.. It just seems that our vehicles are unique enough to make this more difficult. I wonder if any other fords use the same head unit..

Here's the blitz-safe website link..

Other thoughts. I do have a sirius sportster reciever connected via the line-in on my 1986 Town Car.. and even with that, I've been dissapointed with the audio quality. it seems that although they have quite a few streams, they're all highly compressed. no matter what I listen to, it sounds like a low quality MP3 recording.. (~96kbps or possibly less.) Sure is great for road-trips though..
