Should I take the offer?

I put my '99 Cobra vert on Craigslist for $9k. One guy showed up (real nice guy) and offered $7800. Car is sweet but needs a little work. Driver's seat has tear, needs sun visors and possibly some front suspension work but has an '04 Mach 1 motor in it, 4.10 gears, underdrive pulleys, K&N, Diablo tune, new 18" wheels and low mileage on tires, camber plates, new brakes, '04 Cobra rear bumper plus new paint on front/back bumpers (thanks Jamie) etc.......... I don't know if I should take the offer, what do you think?.

It is a buyers market and don't expect to get your money back on mods. Most people like to get a car stock, if you wait long enough you may find someone who likes the mods you did.

Like Steve said, with this economy, it might be worth it to offload it and take a bit of loss, either that or hold onto it until you can get what you want. Tell him you'll take $8200.

We settled on $8k and he's coming to get it tonight. I'm losing about $1k total on the car and I've had it over a year and put 10k miles on it so it's not so bad. The mods were all done by the previous owner. I put new wheels (had new tires already), brakes and the newer Cobra bumper on it which comes out to roughly $1k. Besides that I haven't put a dime into it and I paid $8k for it when I bought it last year. I hate to see it go but barely even use it since I got the big truck. I'm thinking about buying another car for the wife and supercharging the Mark for myself. We shall see.

Sounds like you did very well, I say you were more then even on it since it had one more year of depreciation and 10k more miles.

Umm yea it sounds like you did just fine.

1k depreciation per year is VERY low...
