Spark Plugs

RE: Spark Plugs

I used Motorcraft AWSF12FM1's in my '97 and I intend to use them in my '98 too. I never had a problem with them fouling and I am convinced that they improved my performance because of the cool heat range thang-- The computer allows for maximum advanced timing before spark knock. Hotter plugs cause more spark knock. Cooler plugs therefore allow the computer to advance the timing farther for more HP.

The 12FM1's are the double-platinum Lightning plugs. They will last longer than the copper plugs and are therefore more economical (if you can stand to leave them in for 100,000 miles).

The 22's are indeed a good place to end, but only if you try the 12's and they foul out (the optimum spark plug to run is the one that is the coolest without fouling). If you don't want to take the chance of fouling, a sure bet is the 22's....but you'll always wonder- What if?

The iridiums might offer better performance than any other, but how much/dollar is the question.

RE: Spark Plugs

Ok! I think you sold me on trying the double platinum Lightnig AWSF12FM1's first. Thank you for all your info. I will let you know how they work out.
