The Continentals use a similar SLA front suspension to the Mark VIII's where there is a strut rod from the lower control arm to the frame. The control arm is a pivot so therefore the strut rod must articulate at each end and this is accomplished through the use of rubber bushings.
The problem is the quality control of aftermarket bushings does not meet the OEM specs. Even the quality of brand names such as Moog has changed over the years. Finding components that perform, feel OEM and last the test of time can sometimes be a challenge.
While I have no specific experience with the brand, Mevotech seems to be the current favored brand for suspension bushings.
After replacement of the strut rod bushings, I would also check the front end alignment.
