Suggestions for tips

Well, now that I have nearly everything I need for my new exhaust, I'm in search for a set of exhaust tips. I'm using Dan's 2-1/2" piping and a set of Dynomax Ultraflows for a new exhaust system for the '93.

What do you guys suggest for tips? BTW, my '93 does NOT have cutouts in the rear valance.

Hopefully, one day the snow will clear and I can find a local shop to gut the cats and install the exhaust.

RE: Suggestions for tips

Isn't gutting the cats something the shops are not supposed to do? I could have sworn I seen some type of " don't ask, don't tell" policy dealing with Cats. You don't ask them to do anything with the cats and they won't turn you in to the Smog nazi's. Maybe it is different in your state.

RE: Suggestions for tips

If you do decide to get bumper cut out's, these look the best from what I've seen on a first gen. I might be a little biased because they are mine =) They and 4.75x3 inches I believe, just about that anyway. They fit the stock opening much better then the stock tips. And I know my car was dirty as hell in those pics. I don't remember where I got the tips, but I found them online and here's where the polished SS muffs came from http://store.summitracing.com/productdetail.asp?p=3968

or you could just leave the tips off =)

RE: Suggestions for tips

Wow the ones on the first page are expensive, look very nice though! I found my polished SS tips for less then $30 each. If you search the other board for "oval tips" you may find my old post with a link to where to buy the ones I got. It may have even been like $18, but I know they were cheap and they look damn good I think. Good luck!

RE: Suggestions for tips

hey john if i had to do it all over again i would have went with 2 1/4 exhaust just because there are more tips available for 2 1/4 and the driver side cat outlet is 2 or 2 1/4 anyway and there will be more room to play with the tubing clearance

RE: Suggestions for tips

Too late, Kenny. I already have the pipes and mufflers. I stopped by the exhaust shop yesterday. He's getting some tips in Monday/Tuesday and I'll go down and look 'em over. Just simple SS turn downs will do as I do not have bumper cutouts nor do I really care for excess bling bling on the exhaust. I like the look of the chrome rolled edge round or oval tips, but after looking at many pics, I decided they just wouldn't look right without cutouts in the bumper - too distracting.

Besides, it's the performance that counts, and I can't wait.:)

RE: Suggestions for tips

Ya, if you do chrome tips you NEED cut outs. It just won't look right if you dump them under the bumper.

Personaly, I'm going all out on exhaust, nothing but the best! I've saved up for three years and now I can finally buy the set up I've always wanted. Have you considered this set up, I know Brad has it.

It not only looks mean, but it blinds the hell out of those ricers.
